I love avocados.  I could eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  They seriously pair with every kind of food and are so good for my body.  My family loves them just as much and we eat them constantly.

I felt really good giving them to my kids as a first food and they love them to this day.  They would just eat avocado mashed up with a fork and love it without anything else mixed in.  Some of the reasons they make a great first food are:

  • Consistency: The avocado’s smooth, creamy consistency and mild taste makes it one of the first fresh fruits a child can enjoy.
  • Nutrient Density: Avocados contribute nearly 20 nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and phytonutrients, that are important to infant/toddler nutrition.
  • Freshness: Wholesome, fresh foods are less likely to contain added sugars, salt and other processed ingredients.

It felt good to start them off on a healthy note and they have enjoyed them to this day.

Our family could eat guacamole daily but, I am always looking for some new avocado dishes.

So, I decided to host an Avocado Party with some friends and family to try out some new recipes.  I decorated, got balloons and my kids were excited to wear a fun new T-shirt.  Even my toddler was determined to put one on no matter how big it was.

Two of our favorite recipes from the party were Vegan Avocado Ceviche and Kid-Approved Chicken Turkey Bacon Avocado Wraps.  These were a big hit among the children & the adults.  I served pita chips along side the ceviche, which was full of fresh, flavorful ingredients.

Everyone truly loved these dishes and were already big avocado fans.  I am excited that I found some new recipes that will definitely be using them again in the near future.

The party was full of fun, laughter and good food.  It was great to have friends over and celebrate one of our favorite foods.

I’m glad I now have a variety of healthy and delicious avocado recipes to choose from throughout the week.  Avocados are the perfect snack for every age range and are so easy to incorporate into any meal.

This is such a fun idea! I love all things avocado even though you could not pay me to try it as a child! I’ve got my daughter on board with my avocado recipes and I’m hoping my son grows to love them as well.
