This is one of those post that I will probably come back and update continuously because, I find new tips weekly that help me save money.  I am a stay at home mom to 3 boys and, I have been for almost 10 years!! Our kids ages are 10, 8 and then a big gap to…2! So, I’ve had a lot of experience in this area.  It’s a whole new ball game when you have to shop on one income especially when you start to get school-aged children who eat an insane amount of food in any given day.  I will write many more posts on this subject but, I will share a few of the biggest tips I’ve seen that save us a lot of money.

Step 1: Go early in the morning for the best deals on meat

I realize for some this may be easier said than done.  This can be a challenge to get out to the store at 8-9am on the way to work or with little ones in tow, but it is so worth it.  Most local grocery stores mark down their meats in the morning for the items that are going to expire soon.  If you are not positive of the time, you can ask any store associate or the butcher behind the meat counter.  These items are still good to purchase and, you can put them in your freezer until you are ready to cook them.  These items are typically anywhere from 30-50% off and, this even includes all organic meats as well!!

Step 2 : Meal Planning

This can be time-consuming but, I tend to slash my grocery bill in half when I plan out my meals on Sunday night and only shop for those items.  This also makes meals during the week less stressful as I already know what I’m going to be making.  This prevents walking aimlessly up and down every aisle and, buying items you won’t use or that won’t make a complete meal.  In the future, I will be posting my meal plans to give you some ideas of great meals that don’t cost a fortune to make.

Step 3: Shop the circular

I always look online or keep the circulars that are mailed to me for my local grocery stores.  I tend to only get the veggies and fruits that are on sale for the week, as produce can be very expensive.  I also mainly focus on snacks and any other prepackaged items that are on sale.  These tend to be the most expensive items on my shopping list (other than meats) and, grabbing them randomly off the shelves can really hike up your bill, rather than only buying the snacks on sale for that week!

I have soooo many tips in this area and will post them soon! I really hope this helps you and your family save some big bucks on your grocery bills this week. Many of us have so many balls we are juggling, and I’m excited to bring you more “life hacks” that will make your life simpler, less stressful and overall more enjoyable! Thanks so much for stopping by!
