If you know anything about me, you know I am a major foodie. One of my favorite local restaurants in Harrisburg, PA is The Millworks. They offer amazing food and beers, and they also have some amazing art galleries as well. Going to this restaurant is an entire experience in itself.
This past week, I grabbed a close girlfriend and we headed to enjoy some of their amazing food, and then checked out their Beer & Art Crawl.
We started our dinner out with the best meat and cheese board in Harrisburg, the urban picnic. There is so much variety on this board, and it is all excellent. Another item that was added to the menu was the blue crab and pickled ramp hush puppies. They were light and delicious.
The chef brought us out these mini tostados topped with various meats. I don’t even know what these were made up of, but they were heaven in my mouth!!
For dinner at the Millworks , I had the wood-grilled limestone springs trout. The mix of all of the flavors was so amazing. The meal was so fresh and flavorful.
My friend tried the local grass fed hanger steak. The meat was so tender, and the vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked.
We finished dinner off with some delicious deserts. The chef brought out their seasonal farm fresh fruit cobbler to try, and it was so amazing. You could tell that it was made from scratch. Everything from the cobbler to the house made whipped cream was perfection. We then ordered the gluten free chocolate cake, and the vanilla bean custard.
After we were good and stuffed, we headed to experience the Beer & Art Crawl.
During this event at The Millworks, you can explore 15,000 square feet of paintings, pottery, clothing, jewelry, mixed media art pieces, sculptures, and more, on three floors of the Millworks. You can visit over 18 studios, and some of them poured us a beer to try that is featured in the restaurant as well.
It was so neat to get a chance to chat with the artists about their craft and how they got started. The artwork ranged in variety from studio to studio.
We were even able to leave with 7 items that the artists have made for us.
We learned how to make coasters, soap and their famous BBQ rub.
Tickets for this event are only $30, and you get a great night out in return. This is perfect for a date night or a girls night out.
