If you are looking for healthy easy recipes this is definitely one that is bursting with flavor. This viral Trader Joe’s Shawarma Bowl is even kid-friendly and so easy to throw together when you are tight on time! Chicken Shawarma isn’t particularly hard to make, but it is easier to grab the pre-seasoned chicken from Trader Joe’s so, if you don’t have one near you just grab a quick recipe like the one HERE and you can still easily make this healthy bowl. Due to having 3 boys, I used 2 packs but 1 would be enough. Also, rice is a cheaper and just as delicious option for the base of the bowls.
Here’s what you need:
1 pack of pre-seasoned Chicken Shawarma thighs from Trader Joe’s
1 cup of couscous
2 tomatoes; diced
1/2 red onion; diced
4 mini cucumbers; diced
1 scoop of garlic hummus
1 scoop of tzatziki sauce
2 tablespoons of butter
salt and pepper to taste
feta (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 and bake chicken for 20 minutes. Let it rest and slice into strips.
- Make couscous (or rice) according to package directions.
- Dice up your veggies.
- Layer bowl with couscous, chicken, veggies and a scoop of hummus and sauce. Top with feta if desired. Enjoy!
