I absolutely love Williamsburg, VA. We have visited the area an uncountable amount of times, and it’s been a place that we have made so many terrific memories over the years.
We were hesitant at first to take this trip with social distancing, but were truly impressed by all the safety measures that were put into place to make us feel safe during our time there.
We were able to do so many different activities and eat lots of good food.
Greater Williamsburg has a variety of great resort options, and we were so excited to have Historic Powhatan Resort host us. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit that had a kitchen, washer/dryer, living room and 2 bathrooms. It was perfect for our family of 5. The grounds to the resort are truly stunning as most are in Williamsburg. There were lots of activities there, but we spent most of our time off of the property.
Most people think about history when they hear Williamsburg, so if you are a history buff there are lots of fun things to do and explore.
Our family loves all things music, and most of my family plays some kind of instrument so going to the Virginia Musical Museum was a major hit. We had the best tour guide that led us through this amazing museum that featured some of the ways that Williamsburg has contributed to music all over the world.
We also were able to check out the Historic Jamestowne. It is a beautiful area with so much interesting history. They had great guides that shared stories we would have never read in a history book. We explored churches, monuments and so much more.
You could explore the history of Williamsburg for weeks on end, but this location also offers lots of fun for so many different ages outdoors and inside, whatever your preference is.
From upscale bowling alleys, like AMF Williamsburg Lanes, that were doing a great job of social distancing to checking out Go Ape! Zip Line & Treetop Adventure and Go-Karts Plus my boys were on cloud 9.
I think my kids said their highlight of the trip was Go-Karts. We love being outdoors and challenging ourselves and Go Ape! had so many incredible ropes courses and zip lines
(two words) that fit any age and level of being comfortable with heights.
It was great to encourage each other to push ourselves to try something new, and get a nice workout in this stunning location.
My older boys even did the Monkey Drop with my husband, which they said was one of the most adventurous things they’ve ever done! I’m not a big height person, so I stayed on the ground but it was so fun to watch them.
My boys LOVE cars so, heading to Go-Karts Plus was another highlight. They had different tracks for all ages, and other fun activities and rides that you can enjoy. They also have a mini-golf course, so you could seriously stay there all day.
As most of you know, I am a major foodie so having great food options always makes or breaks my vacations. Williamsburg, VA has so many fantastic restaurants from fresh seafood to delicious BBQ, they have got you covered. The customer service was fantastic, and we loved EVERYTHING we ate!
Some of our favorites local places are:
Captain George’s Seafood Restaurant
New York Deli & Pizza Restaurant
We also were able to do a great brewery tour & try some local craft beers at Aleworks Brewing Company & Billsburg Brewery.
This was definitely a trip to remember, and I was so grateful for this time before we started this school year to get away, have some fun and refresh! I hope you will add them to your list of places to visit. You won’t be disappointed.
