How I’m updating my home without spending a fortune

Lately I’ve been focusing on making some updates to our home to enjoy this space we live in even more. I’ve been amazed how much more  I enjoy living in our home when it feels updated and modern.  So, here are some ways I’ve been updated our home without spending a fortune:

 Adding artwork

I just added this simple piece to a bare wall in our kitchen and it made that room feel so much different when I walk into it.  You can find some great deals on artwork in the clearance section at places like Target or Home Goods.  I got this personalized piece online for a great price as well.

Artwork makes all the difference in the world with how a room looks and takes it to another level.  The focal point of our living room is also a large piece or art that ties in all the colors in that room.  Without that, the room would feel very different and less welcoming.

Updating Rugs

I just added a soft rug to my master bedroom and changed the rug in our dinning room and it’s really upgraded those rooms.  I had a solid, dark color rug in here before but, this design and style has really made this room feel so much more stylish.   When purchasing a carpet, following the sales or purchasing remnants is the way to go.  We have a few local carpet stores that we have purchased remnants from for dirt cheap.

Extra tip for all the mamas with little ones : Get an outdoor rug for your dining room.  They are easier to clean with food and they are significantly cheaper.  I love how this rug makes the room feel.

 Adding greenery everywhere

I can’t take care of real plants so, I buy fake ones.  I have them in my bedroom, bathroom, dining room, and living room.  Finding simple plants in a white vase like the one pictured above, tends to be my “go-to”.  These are so simple to find at any store and are constantly on sale. Greenery goes a long way in updating a home.

Throw pillows

Throw pillows are a beautiful thing.  They can completely change the look of a room.  Whether in your bedroom or living room, throw pillows make a big difference.  It is great to mix & match the patterns to bring some variety and style.  I am actually looking to add some new designs for the summer.

As a stay-at-home mom, I love finding new ways to update my home without breaking the bank.
