Making lasting memories together is very important to our family.  Sometimes we do this in ordinary activities, and sometimes we do activities that are really out-of-the-box for us.  I am always on the hunt for new things to do together.

My husband is incredibly artistic.  He draws and is a musician.  Some of his drawings literally look like they could be in a professional comic book. It looks like my children have now inherited this gene. All they want to do is draw or play the piano in their spare time.  My oldest is incredibly gifted. Since he was in 2nd grade his teachers would just be shocked by his drawing skills.

So…I knew our next experience should be trying our local Color Me Mine. Since having our toddler, we don’t get time with just our two oldest boys. It was a lot of fun to get that quality time with them and do something different.

The staff here was so incredibly friendly and helpful.  They explained the process and got us started right away.

Color Me Mine

We picked the craft we wanted to paint, picked out our colors from tons of options and then we got to work.Color Me Mine

My oldest wanted to pick a more complicated technique to challenge himself but, with the help from the staff they made it super simple.

We had a great time, laughing, talking, and being creative together.  When we were finished, we left it there for them to finish the final steps of making it beautiful and firing it in the kiln.

We picked it up a few days later and they were amazing! The kids couldn’t wait to see them! My husband and I both did mugs.  My husbands put one of his favorite sayings on it.  I was going for my blog colors initially and added some others.

I drink coffee and tea daily so I wanted something I would use often.  My middle child made a dinosaur as he is literally obsessed with animals and wants to be a vet.  My oldest did the shark with this fun paper towel technique.

I hope this inspires you to plan something fun to do with your family that may be different than the normal routine and will create memories that will last a lifetime.  Have a fantastic week!

Love color me mine. We went about 2 years ago and it was so fun for the kids and I. It was my sons birthday week and everyday we did something exciting. A few days later I had my son. So I would love to go back again with all 3 kids

Oh my goodness! I have a gift card for CMM, and was literally thinking of taking the kids today for some family fun and blog post of course, LOL! Well, you’ve helped inspire me to go on an do it with this post. I haven’t been since there was only one child and she was SUPER young. I think they’ll both have a ball now, they love all things artsy!

Aw I love this! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of me and my sister painting ceramics with my mom. It was the best! We still have many of those pieces so hopefully your boys will hold on to them too 🙂
